Cathy is lucky to have several pieces of furniture that her father built with his own hands! This corner chair is so pretty - and it's nice to have as extra seating.

That caned seat is hand woven! And that was causing a problem....because it was just starting to break down, and people were afraid to sit on it for fear of causing damage. Cathy asked us if we could remove the cane and fashion an upholstered seat.

I suggested that we make an upholstered seat that would float on top, so to preserve the original work. I mean - her father did such a beautiful job!

Felt pads keep the new seat clear of the caned seat.

Snapping the seat on in the back keeps it from sliding.

Now this family heirloom is fully functional, yet perfectly preserved!
