One chair, one family, many handy people decorating for each era.
On to 2017!
We never know what we'll find inside an older chair. If we're lucky, the last upholsterer did a great job and all is well. But sometimes....there are surprises....
The old upholstery hadn't been removed prior to recovering.
In fact, there were 3 layers of fabric, including the original.

My favorite is the bright yellow!
Whoever applied that thin cotton material to the chair used nails and brads to secure it to the frame. Seriously.
We eventually got it down to the frame and started fresh. It's ready for the next era.
